Green Day cover John Lennon

The punks will do 'Working Class Hero'

Green Day have announced they are to cover John Lennon’s ’Working Class Hero’.

The track will appear on ’Instant Karma’, a tribute album of artists covering Lennon songs.

All proceeds from the album will go to Amnesty International’s campaign to end genocide in the Darfur region.

The album will also feature contributions from Cure, Black Eyed Peas, Jack Johnson and Willie Nelson doing versions of Lennon classics. The album is due out on June 20.

As previously reported Green Day are set to feature in the forthcoming Simpsons film ’The Simpsons Movie’ which will be released in the US on July 27.
