Green Day have returned to the studio to re-record their single '21 Guns' with the cast of their 'American Idiot' musical.

The band are planning to shoot a new video for the song, originally released in July, with the cast. It will be produced by frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and made available as a digital download at the end of the month, according to their official website, Greenday.com.

Featuring the album in its entirety as a soundtrack, the musical was recently staged at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in California. The show is now expected to move to Broadway in New York.

Armstrong also recently told NME.COM that he would love the musical to come to London.
