A 'leaked' line-up of this summer's Sonisphere Festival is "completely false", according to the event's official spokesman.

Part of the Knebworth festival's line-up was allegedly 'leaked' yesterday (January 25) by a Twitter account which named itself Twitter.com/Sonisphereleak and which claimed it had seen a "pulled press release" which came directly from the festival's organisers Kilimanjaro.

The 'leaked' line-up named Green Day and Queen with guest vocalist Adam Lambert as two of the festival's headliners and also said that Robert Plant and the Band of Joy, Opeth, Seether, Slash, Billy Idol, The Offspring, My Passion, As I Lay Dying and Killing Joke would all be appearing at the festival.

However, when NME asked the spokesman for the festival if the leaks were false, they replied: "Completely false".

Sonisphere organiser Stuart Galbraith said during last year's festival that he and his team were in talks with both Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers for headline spots at next year's event.

However, with the California funk band already playing a headline show of their own at Knebworth Park on June 23, the possibility of them headlining Sonisphere as well seems extremely unlikely.

Sonisphere featured sets from Slipknot, Metallica, Biffy Clyro, Weezer, You Me At Six, Slayer, Limp Bizkit, All Time Low, Gallows and Motorhead in 2011.
