Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong embarked on an expletive-laden onstage meltdown during the iHeart Radio Music Festival earlier this week (September 21) – click at the top of the page to watch.
The singer launched a foul-mouthed tirade after his band were forced to cut their set 20 minutes short because of scheduling problems with another act at the bash, Usher. Learning they only had one minute of their slot remaining, Armstrong yelled: “Oh fuck this shit. I’m gonna play a fucking new song. Fuck this shit. Give me a fucking break. One minute left. You’re gonna give me one fucking minute?”
He went on to say:
Let me tell you something, I’ve been around since 19-fucking-88. And you’re gonna give me one fucking minute? You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me! You’re fucking kidding me. What the fuck! I’m not fucking Justin Bieber, you motherfuckers.
Armstrong concluded his outburst by smashing his guitar on the stage and aiming a parting shot at the audience, stating: “One minute. God fucking love you all. We’ll be back.”
Green Day release their new album ‘¡Uno!’ on Monday (September 24), but you can hear the record in full now on NME.COM by clicking on the player at the bottom of the page.
The rest of the band’s new album trilogy, ‘¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, ¡Tré!’, will be released in two other stages. The second LP, ‘¡Dos!’ comes out on November 12 and ‘¡Tré!’ on January 14, 2013.
Last month the band announced a huge UK stadium show for next summer. The trio will headline London’s 60,000 capacity Emirates Stadium on June 1, 2013. Tickets for the show will go onsale at the end of this month on September 28.
