Grimes unveils Hieronymus Bosch inspired 'Genesis' video – watch
Grimes has unveiled an outlandish video for her track 'Genesis'. Scroll down to watch it.

The Californian desert-set video is said to be inspired by Hieronymus Bosch's painting The Seven Deadly Sins and the Four Last Things as well as by fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier and Jamie Hewlett's Tank Girl creation. A still from the video is pictured above.

Grimes plays Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend, following up the dates with a short UK tour – including two shows at Heaven in London on September 5 and 6 - and an appearance at Bestival on the Isle of Wight on September 9.

Grimes – who has made the Polaris Music Prize shortlist with her acclaimed 2012 album 'Visions' – spoke to NME at the weekend about the jailing of three members of Russian punk collective Pussy Riot.

The artist – real name Claire Boucher – said that the whole situation made her feel "depressed". She said: "I went to school in Russia for a while, so I'm very familiar with it. It's funny to me because I think a lot of people are just realising now how fucked up Russia is, and like, I'm not surprised at all that that situation is happening. I think it's something that happens more than people know."

She added: "I think what's being done, like Madonna and people going over there and performing, is all we can really hope for. Russia will slowly become more educated. Younger people are better. It's going to be a matter of time before things die off. But it's still a really racist, homophobic place."
