An arrest warrant has been issued for rapper Gucci Mane after he was accused of hitting a soldier on the head with a champagne bottle.

MTV says that Mane - real name is Radric Davis - allegedly struck the soldier, who asked to be identified only as James, in an Atlanta nightclub earlier this month (March 15). He claims that he had asked a security guard in the VIP section of the Harlem Nights establishment if he could take a photograph with the rapper when the incident happened.

"I was speaking to the security guard, and Gucci Mane hit me in the head with a bottle," he said. "And as I looked at him in the shock of why, one of his friends hit me in the side of my face."

He added: "That is dangerous because if there was to be any other fan trying to approach him, ain't no telling what else he might do to them. He could have possibly killed me. I just hope and pray that I recover pretty well because I still want to serve my military career."

Meanwhile, according to TMZ, Lt. Jeff Cantin of the Atlanta Police Department confirmed: "We do have an active warrant for Mr. Davis for aggravated assault. So I'm sure after he sees this, I'm sure he'll want to reach out and contact us."

Earlier this month, Gucci Mane announced his intentions to change his name to Guwop - but abandoned the plan 30 minutes later after being subjected to abuse from his Twitter followers.
