Guns 'N' Roses 'came close to reforming'

Former Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland has revealed that the original Guns N Roses line-up nearly reformed in 2004.
Speaking to Classic Rock magazine before he was incarcerated for drink driving in Los Angeles, the current Stone Temple Pilots singer said that a reformation deal almost went ahead when the band released their 'Greatest Hits' compilation four years ago.
"It [reformation] almost happened," he said. "The pens were ready to sign. With the 'Greatest Hits', there was a possibility [of a reunion], but there was too much stuff being said. But it was a close call.
"I think they should get Guns N Roses back together, to tell you the truth," Weiland continued. "I think that would be the greatest thing that they could do. I think the world would be very happy. If they could stop talking trash about Axl [Rose] in the press. I would love to see that happen, as a Guns N Roses fan. I'd pay to see it."
