Axl Rose requests 'square melon' in rider on Guns N' Roses tour

Frontman's list of requests includes custom-made Italian leather couch

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose seems to be getting no less difficult to handle in his older years, as his current rider request includes: "wines, beers, vodka, red and white roses" and a "square melon".

The fruit, which does actually exist appears on his backstage demand list as an "exotic" item "that absolutely can't be missed", The Sun reports.

Also listed on the document is a custom-made Italian leather couch, presumably so Axl has somewhere comfy to sit while tucking into the specially-shaped fruit.

But as rider requests go, Axl's is pretty tame compared to Eminem's request last summer of a specially built wooden pond to house an expensive koi carp for his appearance at Tennent’s Vital festival in Northern Ireland.

On Thursday night (May 17), Axl thanked fans in Dublin for not "throwing shit" at the band as they kicked off their UK and Ireland tour at the city's O2 venue. When the band played the venue in 2010, they were bottled off stage after three songs.

Last month, Rose was booed at Guns N' Roses' induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame when his name was mentioned. He publicly withdrew from the ceremony and asked that he not be inducted at all.

Guns N' Roses are due to continue their UK and Ireland tour at the following dates:

Newcastle Metro Radio Arena (May 23)?
Glasgow SECC (25)?
Birmingham LG Arena (26)
Manchester Evening News Arena (29)?
London O2 Arena (31, June 1)
