Police have arrested a woman in connection with a robbery which saw over $200,000 (£130,000) worth of jewellery stolen from Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose in Paris on June 5.

The singer was at a private gathering after his band's show at the French capital's Bercy Stadium when the theft of three gold-and-diamond necklaces occurred.

The woman, a model, returned the necklaces today (June 6) to police and was subsequently arrested, reports AFP. She claims not to know how she ended up leaving with the jewellery.

According to a spokesman for the band, it did not appear that Rose was wearing the necklaces at the time. He also said that Axl was said to be "fuming" after the theft.

Guns N' Roses completed their troubled UK arena tour on Friday (June 1), ending their run of shows on a sour note after being pelted with money and pint glasses. As well as this, the band have drawn intense criticism for their frequent late starts, often taking to the stage after 11pm.

As previously reported by NME, fans who turned out for the gigs wearing clothes bearing the image of the band's former guitarist were turned away by security – and were only allowed in after removing the offending item of clothing.

The band are touring across Europe for the next two weeks and are scheduled to play in Mönchengladbach, Germany, on Friday (June 8).
