Guns N' Roses fan sues Axl Rose for knocking his teeth out
Darren Wright was hit in the mouth by Axl's microphone at gig in Perth, Australia
A Guns N' Roses fan is suing Axl Rose after the singer knocked his teeth out with a microphone at a gig in Perth, Australia.
Darren Wright damaged his two front teeth and injured his mouth after Rose threw his microphone into the crowd at the end of the band's set at Perth Arena on Saturday night (March 9).
Speaking about the incident in an interview with The West Austrailan, Darren Wright said: "With the bright lights and explosions, I couldn't see anything. The next thing I knew, I was whacked in the mouth. I thought I had been punched. I was quite stunned and it took a few seconds to realise what was going on. I could feel bits of teeth in my mouth. Then someone is climbing through my legs to grab the microphone."
Wright has said he has now started legal proceedings against the Guns 'N Roses frontman for damages to pay for treatment to fix his broken teeth, which he says will take months to complete and will cost $5,000.
"I don't think he intended to do it, but it came at me at a fairly flat and hard trajectory," he said. "Those cordless microphones are not light. I'm surprised it didn't do more damage. At the very least, I want someone to pay to get my teeth fixed."
Tour promoter Andrew McManus has reportedly contacted Darren Wright apologising for the incident and has offered to give him the microphone signed by Axl Rose. However, Wright has knocked back the gesture. "I don't think the microphone is going to fix my teeth," he said.
