Gwen Stefani helps out Californian fire victims

Gwen Stefani has announced that she intends to donate the proceeds from her show tomorrow (October 30) in San Diego, California to the victims of fires that have been plaguing the state for the past week.

Stefani, who is a native of Southern California, will give the profits from the show to local charity San Diego Foundation to support fire relief efforts.

High temperatures, low humidity and strong Santa Ana winds have been fuelling the fires, which have cost thousands of California residents their homes and have caused tens of thousands to evacuate.

"When I heard about the devastation of the fires, at first I felt I should cancel my show out of respect, but then it occurred to me there might be a more useful solution," Stefani said in a radio interview according to E! Online.

Stefani is in the final week of her Sweet Escape world tour, which saw her performing at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California over the weekend, where she invited the USC marching band on stage.
