Hall And Oates sue music publisher

Duo claim 'Maneater' contract was breached

Daryl Hall and John Oates, aka Hall And Oates, are suing their music publisher, Warner/Chappell, after the company refused to protect their publishing agreement when the duo's song 'Maneater' was used without permission.

The suit, filed in Manhattan, says that an unidentified singer-songwriter used the song in 2006, and when they asked their publisher to sue for copyright infringement, the company refused.

Now the duo are seeking damages from Warner/Chappell and want to end their contract with the company, according to the Associated Press.

Taken from the album 'H20', 'Maneater', one of Hall And Oates' most famous tracks, reached Number One on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1982.
