X Factor winner tightens his grip on number one

Meanwhile there’s a new entry from Hard-Fi, plus all the news from the UK single and album charts

X Factor winner Shayne Ward is again number one in the UK singles chart tonight (January 1).

The reality TV show winner’s ‘That’s My Goal’ remains top in a quiet week for the chart.

With few releases last week, Hard-Fi are the only new entry in the top 40, with the reissue of ‘Cash Machine’ reaching number 14.

The first top ten of 2006 looks like this:

1. Shayne Ward – ‘That's My Goal’
2. Nizlopi – ‘JCB Song’
3. Madonna – ‘Hung Up’
4. Eminem – ‘When I'm Gone’
5. Pogues – ‘Fairytale Of New York’
6. Pussycat Dolls – ‘Stickwitu’
7. Black Eyed Peas – ‘My Humps’
8. Sugababes – ‘Ugly’
9. James Blunt – ‘Goodbye My Lover’
10. Girls Aloud – ‘See The Day’


In the album charts, Eminem is number one with ’Curtain Call’, while James Blunt’s 'Back To Bedlam' shoots up from 28 to two. Shayne Ward meanwhile tops the download chart.
