Hard-Fi have new album in the bag

Hard-Fi have an album of material waiting to go, and are just looking for time to get into the studio this coming year to bash it out.

The Staines massive have a hectic year of touring ahead – including an ShockWaves NME Awards date on February 13 – but frontman Richard Archer is keen to get to working on new material.

“Basically the second album is pretty much written,” explained the singer. “People seem to think we’re an overnight success but there was a year of frustration and heartbreak before that – like finding a distribution company to put out our mini-album, then watching them going bust in front of our eyes. All that kind of shit – but in that year I was still writing.”

The band have a January tour of America planned, but Archer hopes to get some sessions sorted when the band return to the UK.

“It’s pretty much written, it just needs a look at to see which way it’s going to go. I’d like to think we can start looking at that in February or March,” Archer added. “We’re going to the States in January, but I’d like to find a way of doing both. Working on the road, jamming the songs in sound-checks, that kind of thing, it will be tough but it’s what you’ve got to do. We want to have the stage set for the second album so we don’t want to go away for too long.”
