Hard-Fi continue ShockWaves NME Awards shows

Hard-Fi continued the ShocKWaves NME Awards Shows 2006 last night (February 13) with a sold out gig at awards venue Hammersmith Palais.

With support coming from Distophia, Duels and Boy Kill Boy, Richard Archer’s men played their only UK date before their sold-out May tour.

Playing highlights from debut album ‘Stars Of CCTV’, Archer told the crowd “We’ve been in the USA but it’s good to be home with you lot,” before launching into a set that included hits ‘Living For The Weekend’, ‘Cash Machine’ and a cover of the ' ‘Seven Nation Army’.

Introducing track ‘Feltham Is Singing Out’, about the young offenders institution near the band’s native Staines, Archer told the crowd “I’m not kidding, we’ve played all across the USA and there was someone from Staines there every night, not including us lot!”

The singer added that the evening's show marked a special anniversary for the band.

“One year ago we played first on the bill on this stage before Graham Coxon for the NME,” he explained. “Now we’re headlining and it’s thanks to you lot. Anyone up for a party?”

Including a solo performance on ‘Move On Now’, Archer also toyed with the lyrics of ‘Hard To Beat’ singing: “Have you heard the latest? Boy in a band dates Hollywood actress” alluding to tabloid rumours he was seeing Scarlett Johansson.
