Hard-Fi cover the White Stripes

Richard Archer's band perform 'Seven Nation Army'

Hard-Fi's regular cover of The White Stripes' 'Seven Nation Army' brought a smile to the faces of a rain drenched Oxegen Festival this afternoon.

Richard Archer's men performed the track in the middle of a hit laden set which included the likes of 'Cash Machine', 'Hard To Beat' and album tracks 'Tied Up Too Tight' and 'Unnecessary Trouble'.

In reference to the weather Archer said: "Fuck this, fuck that and fuck the weather. Even though its pouring down with rain you lot are up for it. Go fucking bananas Oxegen."

Earlier The Magic Numbers played a couple of new songs during their 45 minute set including 'Take Your Chance' alongside the likes of 'Don't Give Up The Fight', 'Love Me Like You' and 'I See You, You See Me'.

Despite the damp conditions, singer Romeo Stodart was in high spirits, bantering with the crowd about the weather.

"I know it's hard and everything but you just gotta ignore the rain," he pleaded before launching into 'Love Is Just A Game'.

Earlier, New York based Russian singer Regina Spektor pulled a large crowd into the Pet Sounds Tent.

Switching between piano and guitar the singer performed tracks from her new album 'Begin To Hope' which is due out on Monday and her debut 'Soviet Kitsch', including 'Better' and 'Poor Little Rich Boy'.

Festival virgins The Spinto Band celebrated guitarist Jon Eaton's birthday with an earlier eclectic performance.

Eaton looked notably chuffed as a spontaneous rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ rang out amongst the enthusiastic revellers before the band played ‘Direct To Helmet’.
