Hard-Fi joined by Clash legend in London

Staines crew kick of Shockwaves NME Awards Shows with special guest

Hard-Fi were joined onstage by The Clash’s Mick Jones as the band kicked off the Shockwaves NME Awards Shows at London's KOKO last night (February 6).

The Staines band introduced the legendary guitarist – who now plays with Carbon/Silicon – at the climax of the gig to perform The Clash classic 'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' with them.

Introducing Jones as his “personal hero”, frontman Richard Archer, also got Jones back on to add guitar to the band’s last song.

"It may be a Wednesday night,” Archer told the crowd, as he invited Jones back to play on 'Living For The Weekend', “but it feels like a Friday night here in KOKO".

Earlier Archer had also tried his hand as a TV evangelist, encouraging the sold-out crowd to shout hallelujahs during their satirical single ’Television’.

Hard-Fi played:

'Middle Eastern Holidays'
'You And Me'
'Tied Up Too Tight'
'Can't Get Along (Without You)'
'I Shall Overcome'
'Television'
'Little Angel'
'Suburban Knights'
'Cash Machine'
'We Need Love'
'Hard To Beat'
'Should I Stay Or Should I Go'
'Stars Of CCTV'
'Living For The Weekend'

Earlier support had come from The Rushes and The Lost Boys. The Shockwaves NME Awards Shows continue throughout February in London, Manchester and Glasgow.

They can recruit as many legends as they can, they are still awful.

Hard-fi, god love 'em. I feel that Mick Jones appearance is akin to the final straw that Archer is desperatly clutching to as he is slowly swallowed into gastric-pits of "wannabe relevantism". Goodbye Archer, fare thee well.

Spot on scotcha...if they were able to bring on Elvis, Lennon and Strummer Hard-Fi would still be utter shite.

I think that Mick Jones' taste in collaborators has declined somewhat... The Libertines, Primal Scream .......... and then way, way, lower ...... and a bit lower ... and a bit more ... hard-Fi

Gaaaawd-you've gotta actually be joking! I was there at Koko and they were all bloody amazing-it's my 4th time seeing them but i'd go again just cos it's such a great time - the atmosphere's buzzing and they really know how to please the crowd-they're great artists and the fact Mick Jones played with them provides further support in that they've truly earned their status in the music world.
