Reverend And The Makers singer teams up with Billy Bragg

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly also perform for prison scheme in London

Reverend And The Makers and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly were amongst a host of guest artists who joined Billy Bragg onstage tonight (November 27) to support his plan to teach prisoners to play music.

The stars played a series of covers during an impromptu set at the Gibson Guitar Studio in London for his Jail Guitar Doors initiative.

The scheme, which is named after a B-side on The Clash's 1978 single 'Clash City Rockers', aims to provide musical equipment to help rehabilitate prisoners.

A short film on his scheme, which also featured Hard-Fi's Richard Archer and Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett, showed the veteran singer travelling with the stars to various prisons across the country.

Following the screening, Bragg then performed an acoustic version of a song he penned for the film entitled 'April Fools Day' before an inmate from Marsh Prison stepped up.

Folk singer Kieran Leonard later covered Bob Dylan's 'Ballad Of A Thin Man' before The Reverend Jon McClure teamed up with Bragg for an acoustic rendition of Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song'.

Get Cape singer Sam Duckworth helped out on Bragg's track 'Greetings To The New Brunette' before all girl rockers The Mentalists wrapped up the show.

Former members of The Clash were due to perform along with Carl Barat, but they failed to appear. Archer was also set to play - but he watched the gig from the sidelines.
