Hole singer Courtney Love is being sued over comments she made on Twitter for a second time in less than a year.

The suit has been filed by Rhonda Holmes, a US attorney, who claims that the singer has damaged her career after she accused her of taking bribes in comments she made on the website. Love's comments came after she hired Holmes and her legal firm to investigate whether money had been stolen from the estate of her late husband, ex-Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

Love dismissed Holmes and her firm six months after hiring them and wrote that she believed they had been "bought off" on her now defunct Twitter account She wrote: "I was fucking devastated when Rhonda J Holmes Esq of San Diego was bought off."

According to Reuters, Holmes is seeking financial compensation for both damage to her reputation and invasion of privacy. Lawyers for the singer have not commented on the lawsuit as yet.

Love has been sued once before over her comments on Twitter. She was forced to pay out over $430,000 (£261,000) to fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir earlier this year after calling her a "drug-pushing prostitute with a history of assault and battery" on the social networking website. The payout made Love one of the first people to be successfully sued over comments they had made on the site.
