Hot Chip play charity shop gig Hot Chip Tickets

Electro stars play Oxjam in London

Hot Chip performed among second-hand books and records in the Dalston branch of Oxfam last night (October 4).

The gig was part of the Oxjam Music Festival, which sees artists playing Oxfam shops across the country to raise money for the charity.

Taking the makeshift stage downstairs in the shop, after a warm-up set from Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Hot Chip played a 50-minute set, mainly comprised of new songs set to appear on their forthcoming, as-yet-untitled third album.

Opening, with ‘Shake A Fist’, the band then led into ‘Boy From School’. Regular guitarist Al Doyle was absent, as he was performing in the USA as part of LCD Soundsystem’s live show. He was replaced by a friend, introduced as "Rob".

At the end of ‘Crap Kraft Dinner’ Hot Chip singer-guitarist Alexis Taylor broke ranks from his band’s normally rigid straight-line formation, dancing to the front of the stage and crooning.

The band closed the set with ‘Over And Over’ and ‘Ready For The Floor’.
