The Putney electro-popsters arrived on stage at 11:40pm (GMT), with frontman Alexis Taylor sporting a garishly-coloured robe and crown which he later shed to reveal white overalls.

The band were bolstered by the recent addition of drummer Leo Taylor to the live set-up, creating a beefier sound to their set than previous tours and festival shows.

They played a new song, 'Alley Cats', which Taylor previously told NME.COM is likely to appear on the band's fourth album, which they plan to record soon.

The song echoed slower, soulful numbers such as the title track of their latest album 'Made In The Dark' and 'In The Privacy Of Our Love', which the band ended their set with, segued with a version of the Prince-written classic 'Nothing Compares 2 U'.

The band created a euphoric atmosphere, releasing a set of huge balloons into the crowd near the end of the set.

Hot Chip played:

'One Pure Thought'
'Bendable Poseable'
'And I Was A Boy From School'
'Hold On'
'Touch Too Much'
'Over And Over'
'Wrestlers'
'Out At The Pictures'
'Alley Cats'
'Ready For The Floor'
'Playboy'
'My Piano'
'No Fit State'
'Nothing Compares 2 U'/'In The Privacy Of Our Love'
