Howler's Brent Mayes: 'I'm not Prince's son'
Drummer denies that he's the 'Purple Rain' hitmaker's offspring
Reports circulated earlier this year that the drummer was the offspring of the 'Purple Rain' hitmaker, with Mayes himself fanning the flames in an interview with NME last month (January 7) and claiming that "complicated legal stuff" stopped him from discussing the matter. He did say, however, that his parents moved in the same social circle to the singer, adding: "My mom was an attractive woman, who had close ties with Prince."
However, in an interview with Virgin, he distanced himself from the rumours, stating:
I'm not Prince's son. If I were though, believe it, I'd be collecting all the child support and probably would not be in Howler.
Howler released their debut album 'America Give Up' on January 16. They have been added to the bill for this year's Great Escape festival in Brighton, which runs from May 10 – 12, and will also play Spain's Benicassim festival, which takes place from July 12 – 15.
