HR Giger will return for Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ prequel

Swiss artist will bring iconic designs to new movie

Celebrated concept artist HR Giger, who was integral in the creation of the xenomorph creature in the first Alien movie, will return to work on Ridley Scott‘s forthcoming series prequel.

Giger won an Oscar for his work on the 1979 original. Now Digitalspy.co.uk reports that his wife Carmen Scheifele revealed he will be teaming up with Scott to work on the film’s 3D prequel, said to be titled Paradise.

The prequel’s plot is reported to go back to the very beginning of the Alien story and explore the origins of the infamous Space Jockey. The plot will centre on a group of astronauts who encounter an alien before it makes its way onto their Nostromo spaceship.

Giger felt that his work on 1997’s Alien Resurrection was so badly interpreted he insisted his name didn’t appear on the credits.
