Hugh Jackman injured during ‘Oprah’ stunt

Star hurts eye during filming of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' in Australia

Hugh Jackman has injured his eye after a stunt went wrong during the filming of The Oprah Winfrey Show in Sydney yesterday (December 14).

The incident occurred during a live recording of the show after Jackman slid down a cable from the top of the Sydney Opera House towards a giant outdoor stage, reports TMZ.com.

The Wolverine actor didn’t stop quickly enough and went on to crash into a lighting rig, injuring his face and later requiring stitches.

Jackman told the concerned chat show host: “I’ve never been hugged by a paramedic. That was so much fun, until the end. I came down waving to everyone, looking over Sydney Harbour, saw my dad, the kids and you [Winfrey], went to pull the brake and then ‘boing’.”

TMZ.com photos show Jackman a few hours after the end of filming, sporting stitches, as well as a black eye.

Jackman was a guest on the special edition of The Oprah Winfrey Show, which is being filmed in Australia in a bid to boost tourism. Other high profile Australian celebrities taking part in the show included Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman.
