Hurts to perform at Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 ceremony

Hurts are set to play live at this year's Shockwaves NME Awards ceremony.

The Manchester band, who are nominated for Best New Band at the awards, will perform their single 'Wonderful Life' at London's O2 Academy Brixton on Wednesday (February 23). They will play as a full band and have promised "some surprises".

Dave Grohl is set to pick up the Godlike Genius award at the event, while Kasabian, Foals, Arcade Fire and Arctic Monkeys are among the acts nominated for other honours.

The band join PJ Harvey, who will be presented with the Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music Award, My Chemical Romance and Foo Fighters in playing live at the ceremony. The event will be hosted by Shooting Stars regular Angelos Epithemiou.
