Ian Brown is set to release a new Michael Jackson-inspired album in September.

The former Stone Roses singer will release 'My Way', his sixth LP as a solo artist, on September 28, NME.COM can exclusively reveal.

The frontman explained that the album was mainly inspired by Jackson's seminal 1982 album 'Thriller' – and that the final day of mixing took place when the late singer died, on June 25.

"'Thriller' was our blueprint," Brown told NME.COM. "Every time we wrote a song we didn't think was strong enough, we scrapped it. We mastered it on the day that Michael Jackson died too, so I'm taking that as a good omen."

'My Way' was recorded at Manchester's Battery Studios with producer Dave McCracken, and will include lead single 'Stellify', which is out September 21.

See the new issue of NME, out tomorrow (July 22), for the full interview with Ian Brown, more album details and an exclusive new picture.
