Ian Brown: 'I gave up shopping in February 1999'
Singer says the only thing he's bought since then is a Burberry scarf
Ian Brown has said that he "gave up shopping" over 10 years ago.
The frontman, who this week had to abandon playing 'Fools Gold' after a scuffle broke out at his gig, said that since leaving The Stone Roses he receives so many freebies that he no longer has to shop.
"The only item of clothing I've bought in the last 11 years is a Burberry cashmere tartan scarf, that's the only thing," Brown told Absolute Radio. "I actually was able to give up shopping in February '99."
The singer added that the Japanese designer Kazuki Kuraishi has kept him well dressed for over a decade.
"I get a box sent from Japan. Like, every eight weeks I get a big box, and there's my jeans and whatnot," he explained. "Every item of clothing you've seen me in since 1999 will have been designed by Kazuki, he's one of the top streetwear designers of Japan. He now designs for Adidas and Levi's as well as a lot of the Japanese labels."
