Indie band guitarist set for role in Ian Dury biopic

Gold Teeth man signs up for 'Sex And Drugs And Rock And Roll' despite no acting experience

The guitarist from newcomers Gold Teeth is set to make his acting debut in a film about Ian Dury And The Blockheads, 'Sex And Drugs And Rock And Roll'.

Nick Rowson has been picked to play a member of Dury's old band The Kilburns for the biopic which begins filming next week.

The guitarist admitted he's not an actor, but got through his audition thanks to his musical ability.

"My friend was helping out with the film's score and said they were casting guitarists. He suggested that I should go along," Rowson told NME.COM.

"I was shit-scared as I've never acted, I just went along, played my guitar in front of a camera and got the part. I reckon I got it because of the shirt I was wearing which my girlfriend had made".

The guitarist joins 'Lord Of The Rings' Gollum aka Andy Serkis who is playing Dury. The film will be released at the end of 2009.

Gold Teeth meanwhile are set to tour this May, supporting Esser.
