Ice-T was arrested in New York yesterday (July 20) for driving without a seatbelt on.

The rapper and his wife Coco Morrow were on a journey through Manhattan on their way to the vets with their bulldog when they were unexpectedly pulled over by the police, reports TMZ.com.

Ice-T was escorted to Chelsea police station where he was taken into custody then released soon afterwards. His response was swiftly posted on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/finallevel: "Some punk bitch rookie cop named Fisher #10026 made the arrest of his bullshit career today, arresting the Notorious Ice-T for no seat belt."

A police spokesperson told Entertainment Weekly that the rapper had been driving with a suspended licence and expired insurance.

"[That was] some bullshit they made up," Ice-T claimed. "[The officer] said, 'I know who you are and I don't give a fuck!' That was right after I called him a punk bitch."
