Iggy Pop to voice role in animated film

Iggy Pop will voice a role in an upcoming animated film.

The Stooges frontman is set to play a politically active uncle in 'Persepolis', an animated political drama about a young girl struggling with life in Iran after the fall of the Shah in 1979.

Pop will be joined by actors Sean Penn, Catherine Deneuve and Gena Rowlands, reports the Hollywood Reporter.

The film, which is the North American version of the French film of the same name, is due to be released in the US at the end of 2007.
