Iggy Pop's 'priceless' instruments stolen

Veteran rocker's truck full of equipment is stolen

A truck full of musical equipment belonging to Iggy And The Stooges was stolen from the band after they played at a festival in Montreal.

The rented truck was stolen from outside the Embassy Suite Hotel early yesterday morning (August 4). Items in the truck included a flying V guitar, various amps and cabinets and a drumkit.

Among the items was a Gibson bass guitar owned by band member Mike Watt, which the bassist first used while playing in the Minutemen in the 1980s. Iggy And The Stooges' road manager Eric Fischer told the Detroit Free Press that the bass guitar is "priceless" due to its heritage.

"That bass would go in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame some day if we could find it," Fischer said. "We're all just gutted."

Iggy And The Stooges have not cancelled any live dates, and will use rented and borrowed equipment to fulfill immediate live obligations.
