Iggy Pop 'embarrassed' by insurance ad appearance
'Misleading' Swiftcover commercial was banned by Advertising Standards Authority last month
Iggy Pop has suggested his appearance in an advert for insurance firm Swiftcover was "embarrassing".
The punk legend made the comment in an interview with The Times.
"This is so embarrassing. I was afraid you'd ask me that. This is so fucking embarrassing," he told the newspaper.
He explained the company wanted someone who "you can't help but like" to appear in the commercials.
"That's a very nervous position to be in […] to be liked," he added.
As previously reported on NME.COM, the advert was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority last month for being "misleading".
This is because Swiftcover doesn't actually provide insurance for entertainers.
It attracted 12 complaints from disgruntled TV viewers.
The advert can be viewed below.
