‘Inbetweeners’ movie to be shot next month

Jay, Will, Simon and Neil are heading to Malia

The cast of The Inbetweeners are about to head to Malia to start filming the movie version of the Channel 4 show.

Actor James Buckley, who plays Jay in the show, told the Metro that the team “have been meeting up and discussing the script for the last month and a bit”.

Buckley confirmed the film was set in Greek town Malia, saying of the plot: “It’s a lads holiday – that’s all I’m allowed to say.”

Joe Thomas, who plays Simon in the show, has previously said of the film: “It’s funny, it’s the sort of holiday I did everything in my power to avoid going on when I was in the final year of my exams. It’s kind of a mental, messy holiday.”

The news comes comes after the stars completed their Rude Road Trip last week, visiting 50 rudely-named places in 50 hours in aid of Comic Relief.

The Inbetweeners won the Best Sitcom award at the British Comedy Awards on Saturday (January 22), beating Miranda and The Thick Of It to the honour.

The as-yet-untitled film is expected to be released later this year.
