India.Arie has countersued Noreen Nalli, her former manager.
Earlier this year the soul singer was accused by Nalli of ditching her without giving prior notice as well as still owing her money from when she worked with her over the years 2005-2009. However, Arie has now countersued Nalli, saying that she overpaid her in the first instance, according to a report from TMZ.
Nalli is also claiming that when they worked together Arie was constantly cancelling gigs as well as turning down offers to play and "would be unavailable for weeks at a time", damaging both her career and Nalli's.
TMZ contacted Arie's rep, who said that the singer "remains hopeful that the matter will be resolved amicably."
Four time Grammy Award winner India.Arie is set to release her fifth studio album 'Open Door', a collaboration with Idan Raichel, in spring 2012. She released her last album, 'Testimony: Vol. 2, Love & Politics', in 2009, which followed her 2001 debut 'Acoustic Soul'.
