NEW CARPETS

The group play their first UK shows in nine years...

INSPIRAL CARPETS are to reform for a UK tour next year, NME.COM has learned.

The group, fronted by Tom Hingley, will play their first headline dates in the UK in nine years. The line-up features singer Tom Hingley, keyboardist Clint Boon, drummer Craig ‘Noddy’ Gill, bassist Martyn Walsh and guitarist Graham Lambert.

In a statement, Hingley said: "We never promoted the Greatest Hits album because we were never around to do it at the time. This is the chance to play our songs again – songs that the fans haven’t heard for years."

Bassist Martyn Walsh added: ‘We’ve got some unfinished business to attend to. We were good and we’ll prove that nothings changed. I know there’ll be a new generation of followers as well as the hardcore fan base that served us well. There will be an edge."

The tour dates are: Sheffield Octagon (March 27)
Bristol Academy (28)
Leeds University (29)
Birmingham Academy (30)
Glasgow Academy (April 2)
Northumbria University (3)
London Shepherds Bush Empire (4)
Manchester Academy (5)
