INXS FACE REALITY

Michael Hutchence's replacement will come from the unlikeliest of places...

INXS are to use a reality TV show to find a replacement for the band's late frontman MICHAEL HUTCHENCE.

American TV programme 'Rock Star' will follow the band around the world, auditioning for a new vocalist for the band in five continents.

The winner of the contest will embark on a world arena tour with the band, as well as recording an album.

INXS members Andrew, Tim and Jon Farriss, Kirk Pengilly and Garry Beers will work with industry specialists in areas from performance to songwriting to find the replacement for Hutchence, who died in 1997.

Speaking on the bands official website. guitarist Tim Farriss said: "After Michael died we wanted to search the world for a new singer but we didn't know how we could effectively do that, but we've now found a fantastic way to make that happen."

Producer Mark Burnett said: "I am a long-time fan of INXSand feel very fortunate that INXS approached us with this idea and have entrusted us with their future."
