New iPhone unveiled
Apple have unveiled their new iPhone today (January 9) at a press conference in San Francisco.

Apple boss Steve Jobs revealed details of the new product to wild applause from the crowd. Coming with either a 4GB or 8GB memory, the phone is widescreen and features an all touchscreen operation along with wireless internet and Bluetooth.

Owners of the phone will be able to stream videos and music without needing a computer. The phone will also be capable of carrying video voicemail.

“We're going to make some history together today. This is a day I've been looking forward to for two-and-a-half years," said Jobs of the new product. "iPhone is a revolutionary and magical product that is literally five years ahead of any other mobile phone."

The phone will be launched in the US on the Cingular network from June, although following the announcement there was some doubt whether or not it will be called iPhone as the name has been a registered trademark of Linksys, a division of Cisco, since 2000.

The two companies are understood to be currently negotiating a licensing agreement for the name.
