New Apple iPhone rival to launch this week (beginning Sept 22)?

New Sony Ericsson service could be available soon

Sony Ericsson are tipped launch a new music service as early as this week (beginning September 22), which is expected to act as a rival to Apple's iPhone and Nokia's Comes With Music service.

The telecommunications company has signed a deal with Omnifone, a company which already provides music download services for companies including Vodafone, reports Cnet.

Sony Ericcson refused to confirm or deny speculation about a possible launch. However, rumours suggest the new service will be based on a music subscription model.
