Iron Maiden to play India for first time

They play Bangalore in March

Iron Maiden are set to play India for the first time on March 17 at Bangalore’s Palace.

Their album ’A Matter Of Life And Death’ rose to Number Two in the Indian charts, which is the highest ever chart position in India for any rock act.

In a statement, singer Bruce Dickinson said: “To say we’re all really looking forward to going to Banglore is something of an understatement.

"It’s very special to us to be able to play to new fans in countries we’ve never been to before. We are crafting a special set to include both songs from ’A Matter Of Life and Death’ and a load of other favourites.”

Speaking about taking their show to India for the first time, Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood said: “Going right back to 1985 and tours behind the old Iron Curtain, particularly Poland, Maiden have always enjoyed blazing the trail taking metal to new fans all over the world.”

The band’s one UK show will be at the Download Festival on June 10.
