Iron Maiden help XL customers stranded in Europe

Bruce Dickinson has flown back holidaymakers after company's collapse

Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson has been helping British holidaymakers left stranded in Europe after the collapse of holiday company XL Leisure Group.

Tens of thousands of people were left stranded on the continent as XL went into administration earlier this week, causing 21 aeroplanes to be grounded.

Dickinson is a full-time pilot for the Astraeus airline, which has organised flights to get stranded tourists back home.

Yesterday, (September 13) the singer piloted an aircraft taking 221 people stranded in Sharm-el-Sheikh in Egypt back to the UK, reports The Times.

In the evening he flew an aircraft to the Greek Island of Kos to collect more victims of the XL saga.

The Iron Maiden man takes time off from his job to tour with his band. "My life's great," he said yesterday. "I get paid to do my two hobbies."

It's not really "pretty cool of him", considering it's his job and what he is paid to do.

He's also an author, radio DJ and Olympic standard fencer as well as being the frontman for one of the greatest bands on the planet. Is there an end to his talents?

Actually, bobbymalone, he voluntarily took time off his holiday to do it, so it IS pretty cool of him.
