Apple's iPad 2 to include new GarageBand app
Apple yesterday (March 2) unveiled details of the new iPad.

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs made a surprise appearance at the product's launch in San Francisco, having been signed off with medical leave in January.

At the launch, Jobs said the new iPad was faster, slimmer and lighter than its predecessor.

It will be released on March 11 in the USA, and March 25 everywhere else in the world, priced between $499 (£305) and $826 (£505).

Apple also announced yesterday that the iPad 2 will feature a new GarageBand app. It will cost $4.99 (£4.39) and will give users access to a virtual eight-track recording studio, with guitars, drums, piano, bass and electronics loops available to be used.

Jobs said of the new app: "I can't even tell you how many hours teens are going to spend with this, teaching themselves about music."
