Jack Penate: 'My album is about sex with really big women!'

Jack Penate has told NME.COM that his forthcoming debut album was inspired by some unlikely influences.

The singer says he was listening to a lot of folk-jazz Tim Buckley while making 'Matinée', set for release on October 1 – and that led to a unlikely and subconscious change in direction.

Tim Buckley’s a big influence on the album. There’s this album by him called 'Goodbye And Hello', which I was listening to a lot before recording. There was another album, 'Move With Me', which is about him having sex with loads of big black women.

“I was like, ‘Hey - I like this album!’ Ha - maybe it’s rubbed off on my album too!”

Also in this week’s NME, we give you 101 ways to have the best time at the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals.

And we also review the new albums from Super Furry Animals and Frank Black.
