Jack White threw the ceremonial first pitch at a Detroit Tigers baseball match last night (July 29).

White stepped out in front of fans prior to the game against Chicago White Sox at the Tigers' Comerica Park, throwing the ball straight to his opposite number who was, somewhat incongruously, dressed as Santa Claus.

In addition to throwing the pitch, White also brought the Third Man Rolling Record Store to the Detroit Tigers game and sold records to fans.

Earlier this month the singer announced that Third Man will be launching its own literary publishing arm. Third Man Books' first commercially available release will be Language Lessons: Volume I, which comprises a 321-page book of poetry and prose as well as two vinyl LPs of "jazz, psychdelic-punk, poetry, blues and pop" and five "frameable" poems. The package will be released in a hard-case clothbound sleeve and is available to buy from August 5.

Jack White embarks on a three-date tour of the UK this November playing at:

Leeds First Direct Arena (November 17)
Glasgow SSE Hydro Arena (18)
London O2 Arena (19)
