Jack White 'Lazaretto' demos appear online - listen

The 'Alone In My Home' and 'Entitlement' demos came out as part of Third Man Records' Vault service

Demos for two tracks from Jack White's 'Lazaretto' album have appeared online.

The demos for 'Alone In My Home' and 'Entitlement' were initially released on vinyl as part of the Third Man Records Vault subscription collection. Listen to the tracks below, via Consequence of Sound.

Meanwhile, 'Lazaretto' has become the biggest-selling vinyl album for 20 years in the US, based on Billboard figures. The album, White's second, was released in June and has since sold 60,000 vinyl copies, making it not just the biggest-selling vinyl album of the year, but the biggest-selling since Pearl Jam's 'Vitalogy' was released in 1994. The 60,000 sales account for around a quarter of the album's total US sales figure of 238,000.

'Lazaretto' was released as an 'Ultra LP', side A of which plays as standard, while the flipside plays from inside to out. There are also two songs that play at 45rpm hidden under the label on each side. Of those 60,000 sales, 40,000 came within its first week of release, making it the fastest-selling vinyl album since Nielsen Soundscan began compiling vinyl sales figures in 1991.

Prior to White's new record-breaking sales feat, Arctic Monkeys' 'AM' was the best-selling vinyl album of 2014, with 29,000 copies sold on the format since the album's release in September 2013. The biggest-selling vinyl album of 2013, meanwhile, was Daft Punk's 'Random Access Memories', which sold around 49,000 copies.

It's the latest in a line of record-breaking vinyl releases by White, who earlier this year produced the 'Lazaretto' single, the fastest-pressed-and-released vinyl ever. The song was performed live at Third Man Studios in Nashville, along with a cover of Elvis Presley song 'Power Of My Love' as the B-side, recorded straight to acetate and transported to a pressing plant for production. The whole process took just under four hours, setting a new world record.
