Single hidden by Jack White inside furniture found a decade later

The release was recorded by White's one-time band The Upholsterers

A decade old single by Jack White – recorded by him and his friend Brian Muldoon under the name The Upholsterers – has been discovered inside a piece of furniture.

White previously worked as an upholsterer, and decided to covertly release 100 copies of his and Muldoon’s second single in 2004 by stitching them inside furniture they were working on to celebrate Muldoon’s 25th year in the trade. The Third Man label has revealed that two copies of the single have been discovered, and have released the cover art by Detroit artist Gordon Newton in celebration. See the artwork by clicking here.

The Upholsterers released their first three-track single, ‘Makers Of High Grade Suites’, in 2000, via The White Stripes early label Sympathy for the Record Industry. It featured a song written by White called ‘Apple of My Eye’ and a cover of Willie Dixon’s ‘I Ain’t Superstitious’.
