The Jackson's will return to the studio to work on their first album of new material since 1989's '2300 Jackson Street', according to eldest brother Jackie Jackson.

They will start work after reuniting for their 'Unity Tour' of North America this summer. Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito Jackson's reformation will mark their first full-scale tour in more than 20 years.

"That's what we gotta do - right after the tour, we're gonna go back into the studio and start recording some new music. I can't wait," Jackie told Billboard this week.

The brothers will perform classic Jackson 5 hits as well as a tribute to their late brother Michael Jackson, who died in 2009 aged 50.

Musically, Jackie said the new project would stay true to the original sound of the group, which launched the pop career of Michael Jackson with hits such as 'I Want You Back', 'I'll Be There' and 'ABC'. He said the work would include:

A little bit of today, and also a return to our sound. We're gonna keep it simple… We can't shy away from our sound.

While the band will stick to classic hits for their tour, which begins on June 18 in Louisville, US, they will also honour the legacy of their late brother Michael Jackson, with performances of some of his solo songs as part of a section of the show which will pay tribute to the late singer.

Speaking of his brother, Jackie Jackson said:??"I just wish my brother was here with us so we could do it with him…I'm sure his spirit will be in the house when we're out there performing on the stage."

Last week, the makers of the technology behind the Tupac hologram at Coachella with Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg told NME that Michael Jackson would be their "ultimate" star to resurrect with the technology.
