Jake Bugg has been working in the studio on his second album with Rick Rubin, NME can reveal.

The singer-songwriter, whose self-titled debut album went straight in at Number One on the UK Official Album Charts last year, has recorded a track titled 'Slum Door Sunrise' with Rubin in Malibu, California. Speaking in this week's NME, which is on newsstands now or available digitally, Bugg says that he didn't not know much about the Beastie Boys and Johnny Cash prior to meeting him.

He admitted: "I didn't know how well renowned he was when I went in there, so I kind of met the guy at face value and we got on really well."

Discussing the sound of his new material, which Bugg has written with previous collaborator Iain Archer, he added: "I've been listening to a lot of Neil Young and Nick Drake and all that kind of stuff, and I think with these new songs you can kind of tell what I've been listening to. I want to emulate the first record - but better."

Jake Bugg will tour the UK in October. The dates will follow appearances at Reading and Leeds Festivals, as well as slots supporting The Stone Roses over the summer.

Jake Bugg will play:

Bournemouth BIC (October 19)
Plymouth Pavilions (20)
Brighton Centre (22)
London Brixton O2 Academy (23)
Swindon Oasis (27)
Birmingham O2 Academy (28)
