James Blunt's label boss sues over royalties
Linda Perry is suing the star's label
The US record label run by songwriter Linda Perry, is suing the Warner Music Group over alleged unpaid royalties from James Blunt’s debut 2006 album, ‘Back To Bedlam’.
In the lawsuit Custard claims that Perry signed Blunt to her label in 2003 and delivered ‘Back To Bedlam’ to the Atlantic label, a subsidiary of Warners.
Through the lawsuit the company is now claiming that Warners owes it lost royalties plus $5 million (£2.5 million) in damages, reports BBC News.
Will Tanous, spokesperson for Warners, counteracted the allegations, claiming that Custard had always been duly compensated financially, and will continue to be for further sales of the album.
