James Brown
James Brown’s public funeral in Augusta, Georgia has taken place (December 30).

The Godfather Of Soul died unexpectedly on Christmas Day (December 25) due to heart failure caused by severe pneumonia.

The singer’s body was then taken to the Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York on Thursday (December 28) to lie in state so fans could pay their respects.

Following a friends and family service earlier, Brown’s public funeral has now taken place at the 8,500 capacity stadium in the star’s home town which was named after him earlier this year.

NME.COM has been providing live coverage through the ceremony via a special blog.
