James Brown trustee quits over money claims
He is ordered to hand in cheque for £173,700
A James Brown trustee has been accused of misappropriating funds worth £173,700.
The trustee, David Cannon, was forced to hand over a cheque for that amount during a court hearing.
Cannon then quit on Friday (August 10) as co-executor of Brown’s will during a four-hour hearing before Circuit Judge Jack Early.
A follow-up hearing has been scheduled for September 24, as various people wrangle over the singer’s estate.
An Atlanta lawyer representing several of the singer's children, Louis Levenson, said it was no longer clear how much money was left in Brown’s estate.
Levenson told The Augusta Chronicle that he was currently attempting to find out where the singer’s money went.
Brown died aged 73 on Christmas Day last year.
